It is the desire of Restored Life Counseling to focus on wellness and strengths of the person, instead of the traditional negative view of emotional and mental health issues. Instead of focusing on what is wrong, we focus on what is right. To establish the therapeutic relationship, our therapists use a person centered, client focused approach. As this relationship develops, we will help clients identify goals for their counseling/psychotherapy sessions.
Counseling strategy used by most of our counselors is a mix of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), rational emotive behavioral therapy (REBT), solutions focused, and client centered therapy. Techniques and methods used by our team include active listening, rapport building, clarification, reflection of feelings, empathy, unconditional positive regard and acceptance.
In addition, we may use thought stopping techniques, reframing self-talk, behavioral tracking and monitoring, relaxation techniques, modeling, contracts, homework assignments, self monitoring, guided imagery, play therapy, the empty chair technique, and teaching of the A-B-C model in REBT.
